First Steps Learning Center's Programs
INFANT ROOM (AGES 6 WEEKS UNTIL 12 MONTHS): Introducing The Giggle Worms!
Here at First Steps Learning Center, as infants are introduced into a home away from home, a childcare center, we make the what can appear to be a hard transition for both the parents and the infants a much more smoother and easier transition as we provide the care and the love that the infants need to feel safe, secure and loved in am environment that is free to learn, explore, play, and grow with our trained and educated staff. We aim to create an environment where they can be mentally and physically stimulated through fun, engaging, and beneficial activities
We focus on a few different areas with an infants that includes:
Sensory activities to encourage listening skills, visual tracking, touching and feeling which includes activities like Repeat After Me, singing, dancing, and so much more.
Gross motor activities with our infants that involve large muscles and the entire body. These activities includes sitting, standing, crawling, lifting, rolling, and eventually waling as they transition into toddlerhood. We incorporate things in activities like Follow the Leader and Obstacle Courses that are safe for infants.
Fine motor activities that involves the small muscles of the hands and improve things such as grasping, picking up, dropping, and so much more. We incorporate these things in activities such as playing ball, playing with toys, and so much more.
Cognitive activities to help develop memory, listening, language, thinking, understanding, and reasoning skills. We incorporate this in activities such as read-aloud time, hind and find, memory games that are age appropriate and so much more.
TODDLERS (AGES 12 MONTHS UNTIL 2 YEARS-OF-AGE):
Introducing The Busy Bees and The Little Adventurers!
Our program uses hands-on exploration and social interaction in safe, engaging surroundings to help your growing toddler learn about his or her expanding world. Experienced teachers promote emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development in a fun, engaging environment. Our staff is aware that when our children are all over the place, they are discovering their world so it is important that toddlers explore in safe, loving places where they can explore in their own way. The activities for this age group are built around toddlers' limitless curiosity and their natural desire to push boundaries.
We focus on each of things areas in the following ways:
Cognitive learning activities help toddlers develop their abilities to collect, process, and organize information about the world around them. We do this by using activities such as matching games and puzzles, sorting objects, counting and number games, and alphabet and letter games.
Emotional learning activities helps our toddlers express their feelings to avid frustration when they are not able to. Activities such as reading stories or drawing pictures of feelings, playing pretend, singing and dancing allows them to do so.
Physical learning activities enhances hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Activities such as walking like animals, hopscotch, bean bag toss, and balancing an egg on a spoon allows them to get out some of the abundant energy our Busy Bees have.
Social learning activities aid in the child's ability to share, feel empathy, make friends, and develop relationships. These activities includes things such as follow the leader, Simon says, and games that requires taking turns.
PRESCHOOLERS (AGES 3 YEARS-OF-AGE AND 4 YEARS-OF-AGE): The Little Einsteins!
​With improved coordination and thinking, the world begins to open up our for preschoolers. Our program introduces language, math, science, and social skills in a natural sequence to nourish learning one step and a time, with individual attention suited to your child's unique needs. Our Preschool Curriculum allows them to grow into the Little Einstein that each of them are as we introduce more Centers that includes things such as literacy, art, technology, music, math and manipulatives, dramatic play, sensory station, and so much more.
We offer added services such as ABC Mouse and Lab Time to ensure that even our Preschoolers are learning throughout the day, each day! Our Preschool staff has been carefully chosen in order to ensure that each of our children are Preschool Ready prior to leaving our center.
